Dr. Randall P. Brewer

Dr. BrewerDr. Randall P. Brewer was born in Shreveport , Louisiana . He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University , School of Medicine in Shreveport , in 1993. His post-graduate training includes completion of a Neurology residency (Emory University 1997) Anesthesiology (Duke University 2000) and Pain Medicine (Mayo Clinic 2001).

A graduate of Southwood High School, Dr. Brewer received his undergraduate degree from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe.
At Duke University , Dr. Brewer developed a strong interest in clinical research and teaching. In 2002-2003, he directed the Duke Pain Fellowship. His research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals such as Pain, Neurology, Anesthesiology, Anesthesia and Analgesia, Mayo Clinic Proceedings, Critical Care Medicine, Journal of Neurocritical Care, Journal of Pain and Symptom Management, and Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology.

Dr. Brewer is an expert in treating low back pain, neck pain, and musculoskeletal pain. He uses a multi-disciplinary management technique which includes injections, interventional strategies, physical therapy approaches, psychological support, and medication management.

Dr. Brewer maintains an active clinical research program. The research focus of the practice involves the evaluation of emerging pharmacological treatments as well as the evaluation of new interventional techniques. To date, his practice has participated in more than 30 clinical trials of new pain therapies.

His clinical areas of expertise include neuropathic pain syndromes (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, Post-herpetic Neuralgia, Failed Low Back Syndrome, Spinal Arachnoiditis), cancer-related pain, discogenic low back pain, and lumbar spondylosis.

Dr. Brewer resides in Shreveport. He enjoys golf, fishing and LSU football.
